The New England Sod Producers Association (NESPA) was organized to help serve the needs of sod production industry within the six New England States. Sod production in New England includes nearly 6,000 dedicated acres of natural turf to be used mostly on grounds, sports fields, home lawns, golf courses and commercial properties in the Northeast. NESPA is pleased to welcome affiliate members into the association who also support the New England sod industry.
NESPA supports turfgrass research and education aiding in the accumulation of positive information on the use natural grasses. Several turfgrass species survive the harsh winters of New England and are grown in specific blends and mixtures depending on the designed use of the turf. Turfgrass research can help define the benefits and uses of grasses based on unique characteristics. This research information can assist sod producers in their selection to create inventories that can fulfill customer needs.
NESPA is dedicated to the promotion natural turf for the benefits of society, for the health of athletes, and the conservation of natural resources.
